Delete your Just Yahtzee account and data
This page explains how to delete your Just Yahtzee account and the data linked to it, and what is kept. The Privacy Policy has the full picture.
What data exists
Solo games and games against the bots need no account. When the app starts with a connection, it creates an anonymous guest ID: a random user ID from Firebase Authentication, with no name or email address.
If you open Challenges and choose a player name, the app also stores your player profile and player-versus-player record, your leaderboard entry, your challenges and matches, and a cloud save of your statistics. If you link a Google account, the sign-in record also holds that account's name, email address, account ID and the link to its profile picture.
Delete it in the app
- Open Just Yahtzee (version 6.26 or later).
- Tap the gear (Settings).
- Under Your data, tap Delete next to Delete account & data.
- Tap Delete everything to confirm. If you linked a Google account, confirm with that Google account when the app asks.
The app deletes your online data first: your player profile and player-versus-player record, your cloud save, your leaderboard entry, your open challenges, the markers that record which matches have been scored, and your matches against the bots. A match against another player stays in that player's history under the name “Deleted player”, without your user ID; one still in progress counts as a forfeit, which they win. Then the app deletes your sign-in record (the guest ID, or the record of the linked Google account) and this game's data on your phone, except your Remove ads status, and signs you out.
Deleting needs an internet connection. If a step fails, the app says what was and was not deleted, and you can tap Delete again. Firebase can refuse to delete a guest ID that has been signed in for a long time, because it asks for a recent sign-in and a guest sign-in cannot be repeated: the app then deletes everything else, signs your phone out of the guest ID and shows it, and you can email us to have it removed. The guest ID holds no name or email address. Signing out in Settings (Your data → Account) deletes nothing, and clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes the data on your phone, but not your online data.
Ask us by email
Email appsbyabyteofeverything@gmail.com with the subject “Just Yahtzee account deletion”. Send it from the Google account you linked, if you linked one, and include your player name so we can find your account. The developer handles these requests by hand and answers within one month.
Use email if you no longer have the app, if your version of the app has no Delete account & data yet, or if the app could not finish. It works for guest accounts and for accounts linked to Google.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in record: the guest ID and any linked Google account.
- Your player profile: player name and player-versus-player statistics.
- Your leaderboard entry.
- Your open challenges, and your matches against the bots.
- Your player name and user ID in your matches against other players; a match still in progress ends as a forfeit, which they win.
- Your cloud save of statistics.
- Internal markers that record which of your matches have been scored.
- In the app, also this game's data on your phone: statistics, player name, match data and settings.
What is kept
- Matches you played against other players stay in their match history, with the dice, the scores and the turns, under the name “Deleted player” and without your user ID. The app deletes finished matches older than 30 days when a player in the match next opens their matches.
- Your Remove ads status on your phone, so that you do not have to restore it.
- The anonymous totals described in the Privacy Policy (ads watched, purchases, matches started and challenges posted), which contain no user ID or device identifier.
- Your Remove ads purchase record stays with Google Play and in our sales records, and data that Google's AdMob software processed to show ads is kept by Google under its own policies.
Data on your phone
Clearing the app's storage in Android settings (usually Settings → Apps → Just Yahtzee → Storage → Clear data; the names vary by phone) or uninstalling the app removes everything the app keeps on your device.
